Synopsis:
Gunner and Sarge are part of a unit that has lost many men. Only a handful of marines remain to hold the beach. They learn that the enemy is planning a charge that will soon overrun their position. Their only hope is to get the enemy to divide their forces. Gunner and Sarge dig a trench in a flanking position to the other troops. To convince the enemy that the trench is filled with men, they set up empty helmets to make it look like they are filled.

When the enemy attacks, they ignore the flanking position, so Gunner and Sarge attack them from behind. After the marines destroy two tanks, the Japanese believe that the full American force has moved to Gunner and Sarge's position. The entire force turns to attack. Gunner and Sarge are nearly overrun, but their fellow soldiers charge from their original position and force the enemy into retreat.
