Comments:
Although not named in this story, the individual members of the Time Trust, went on to appear in several other stories over the years. In those stories the scientists were said to be members of the Time Trust.
This is the Sandman’s first case with the JSA in his new costume.
The bomb defense shield which is developed at the end of this story would later be sabotaged by Degaton as revealed in All-Star Squadron #2, making it useless to the government.
Synopsis:
Hawkman, Sandman, and Dr. Mid-Nite save the lives of a team of scientists later called the Time Trust. The scientists are working with the government to develop a defense against foreign bombardment. Hawkman pledges the Justice Society to help protect the scientists from harm.
When the JSA is assembled, they agree to help the scientists. Johnny Thunder comes up with the idea of traveling into the future using a Time Ray developed by one of the scientists. Honorary members Flash and Green Lantern are brought in to guard the scientists, while the active membership of the JSA travels 500 years into the future to retrieve the formula.
Hawkman discovers that the formula has been broken into eight parts and scattered around the world. Each of the JSA members is assigned to retrieve one part of the formula. Each encounters trouble, but they are all successful. Upon their return the scientists complete the formula and a shield is built to defend America against bombardment.
