Comments:
This story continues in Outsiders #18.
Although Eclipso is Bruce Gordon, the two have been split into separate bodies. Because they no longer share the same body and because Eclipso will possess other characters in later stories, Bruce Gordon will be tracked as a separate individual in the post-Crisis universe.
Synopsis:
Batman investigates the theft of several relics from the South Pacific. He stakes out a museum where the crooks strike next. Batman recognizes the crooks as deciples of Eclipso known as the People of the Dark. He is defeated and taken prisoner.
The Outsiders have their own encounter with the People of the Dark. They follow the crooks' trail to the island of Diablo where they are warned away by Dr. Bruce Gordon. Gordon is trying to permanently prevent Eclipso from returning. Despite Gordon's warning, the Outsiders are captured.
The Outsiders are reunited with Batman in a temple dungeon. Batman helps them escape. The group then interrupts a ceremony in which the People of the Dark restore Eclipso to life after his body had been destroyed. Eclipso forces the heroes to withdraw until an eclipse passes, but Eclipso uses some mystic jewels to maintain the eclipse indefinitely.
