Comments:
This story is a post-Crisis adaptation of the first story of Superman #19. Since the Golden Age Superman did not exist in the post-Crisis universe to fight Funny Face, the All-Star Squadron now fights the battle.

Johnny Quick proposes to Liberty Belle in this story which takes place shortly after Tom Revere's death.

Synopsis:
Johnny Quick and Liberty Belle respond to a report that Torgo, a comic strip character is threatening Metropolis. They arrive on the scene to fight Torgo, only to witness him vanish. A strange yellow ball with a face on it boasts that Funny Face is behind the crimes. The ball then disappears too. Belle and Johnny then call other members of the All-Star Squadron for help.

The Squadron members soon encounter other comic strip villains who have been brought to life. Firebrand is captured during one battle and brought to Funny Face's hideout. From there, Firebrand is able to get a message to Tarantula, who brings help to rescue her. The All-Star Squadron defeats Funny Face, who had discovered a method of bringing two-dimensional drawings to life. At the conclusion of the battle, the machine is destroyed ensuring that it can never be used again.
