This story is continued in part from Adventures of Superman #440.

This story reveals that in the destruction of the old world, which ended with the creation of New Genesis and Apokolips, energy was released. That energy was directed toward Earth and was responsible for the creation of the Olympians.

Synopsis:
Superman arrives at his meeting with Wonder Woman and kisses her. He then apologizes for his forward behavior and admits that he has been preoccupied with her ever since they first met. They agree to get to know one another, then Wonder Woman is called away by Hermes. Superman follows her through a magically rift that takes them both to Olympus.

Upon arrival both Superman and Wonder Woman are separated. Wonder Woman tracks Hermes to a cell where he has been imprisoned. Meanwhile Superman discovers that the laws of physics don't apply here causing his powers to behave strangely.

Hermes was attacked by Darkseid who has taken control of Olympus. He sends his minions Kalibak and Amazing Grace to toy with the newly arrived heroes. Disguised as Wonder Woman, Grace confronts Superman and begins kissing him. Meanwhile Kalibak disguised as Superman picks a fight with Wonder Woman. When both imposters stand revealed a chase ensues. Once out of sight the villains vanish, leaving Wonder Woman and Superman to fight one another.

A battle rages between the two heroes. They eventually crash into the room where Darkseid and Desaad have been monitoring the battle. The heroes stop their fight and explain that it was a hoax used to locate Darkseid. Wonder Woman then explains that the only reason Darkseid was able to capture Olympus was that the gods abandoned it. Angered, Darkseid leaves. Bombs he planted around Olympus explode, destroying it, but the home of the gods is magical and is able to reconstruct itself instantly.

After returning to Earth, Superman and Wonder Woman part ways as friends. They agree that they are from different worlds, and that a romance between them is unlikely. Superman does share his secret identity with her.
