Synopsis:
Darkseid and Etrigan reach the dimension containing the anti-life entity. Darkseid attempts to destroy the entity, but quickly discovers that his power is insignificant compared to the creature. He attempts to escape into another dimension, but he and the Demon are pulled back by the entity. They are about to be killed, but Doctor Fate arrives with Highfather and Orion. The five beings combine their power to seal the entity in its own dimension. To accomplish this Doctor Fate is forced to cause the destruction of a neighboring dimension. The victors return to New Genesis to await word from Earth.

In Arizona, Batman and Forager disable the bomb that would destroy the planet and eventually the galaxy. The anti-life entity has taken over the body of Darkseid's minion whom Batman previously encounted in Gotham. The creature breaks Batman's leg and reactivates the bomb. Forager gives his own life to stop it. Batman then returns to New Genesis with Forager's corpse. When Orion makes a jest, Batman punches him in the face.

Meanwhile, John Stewart is upset at his own failures which led to the destruction of Xanshi. He contemplates suicide. J'onn sees Stewart put a gun to his own head and does nothing. When John backs down, the Martian Manhunter goads the Green Lantern into quitting. Almost to spite J'onn, Stewart puts his ring back on.

During the activities, Darkseid slips away and returns to Apokolips with the devices which captures aspects of the anti-life entity. Thus, he does not walk away empty-handed.
