This story is continued from Firestorm, the Nuclear Man #77 and continues in Firestorm, the Nuclear Man #79.

Synopsis:
Firestorm transforms an area of the East African desert into a lush landscape full of fertile soil. While the natives and Ed Raymond are pleased with his work, Sister Agnes, one of the relief workers, is not. She tries to explain the political implications of what he did. A civil war has been ongoing for twenty years. Firestorm's actions have only caused more problems as rival warlords will fight over and destroy the land he created.

Firestorm splits and returns to the forms of Ronnie and Mikhail. While Mikhail meets with his brothers in Russia, Ronnie is befriended by Jama, an African man who saw him transform. Then soldiers arrive and start shooting. Ronnie is injured. Jama goes back for him when the soldiers set the hut in which Ronnie resides on fire.

Ronnie awakens and forms Firestorm. Jama is pulled into the group mind this time. Powered by the African's jungle instincts, Firestorm takes on the facial features of a lion and begins taking retribution against the soldiers.
