Synopsis:
Tom Kalmaku and ex-CIA operative Twerlinger infiltrate South Africa using phony papers. They then head for the facility where Kroef is holding Tom's wife.

Back in the United States, doctors finish their tests on the New Guardians. Each has recovered from the effects of the gene bomb. Harbinger is even cured of the HIV which she contracted from Celia. Extrano however remains infected.

Extrano convinces the team that they should help Tom Kalmaku. They head for South Africa disguised as blacks. They are captured and taken across the border before the illusion maintaining their disguises fail.

At Kroef's facility, Tom discovers that he has been led into a trap. Twerlinger was secretly working for Kroef and arranged for Tom's capture.
