Comments:
This story continues in Checkmate #20.

Synopsis:
A knight in Moscow is nearly captured while trailing a KGB courier. The courier is being fed information by a mole. Scott Jameson contacts other Checkmate agents in the Soviet Union to get potential defector Anatoly Krasnikov to turn over the courier and expose the mole. However, when the knight makes contact, Krasnikov seems unwilling to defect.

Elsewhere knight Jacques Reynard who was believed dead turns up alive in Qurac. In Romania, Peacemaker shuts down a black market arms dealer. And in Colorado, Harry Stein begins the establishment of the new Checkmate headquarters.
