Comments:
Hal's first trip to Desolation occurred on Earth-1 in Green Lantern #77. Rose did not appear in that story.
John's failures to save Xanshi took place in Cosmic Odyssey #2.
Oberon is depicted during Hal's visit to the Justice League, so this story must take place following Mister Miracle's return to Earth in Mister Miracle #19.
Synopsis:
Hal Jordan searches for a new direction in life. He visits the Justice League in New York. The visit convinces him that he does not want to be a part of the new League. Instead he returns to the town of Desolation, now called Hope Springs. He once visited the mining town while traveling with Green Arrow and Appa Ali Apsa.
Hal tracks down Rose Hardin, a woman he met previously who inspired him. He arranges to work on her farm. When Guy Gardner pays Hal a visit, Rose is appalled. She asks Hal to leave and never return.
Elsewhere John Stewart struggles with the guilt he feels as a result of the destruction of Xanshi.
