With the conclusion of World War II, the Boy Commandos are broken up and can return home. Jan goes to live with his uncle in Holland; Alfy is supposed to join his aunt in England; Andre has no remaining family, so Rip Carter is given custody; Brooklyn joins Rip on the flight back to the United States. Alfy stows away on the plane, not wanting to leave his friends behind.

When the three remaining boys reach America, Brooklyn offers to show them his old neighborhood, while Rip is in a meeting. Brooklyn soon has a run-in with his old rival Big Nose Murgatroyd. Big Nose is the leader of a teenage gang. Brooklyn and the boys try to stop a younger boy, Mickey Tanner, from getting mixed up with the gang. The boys stop a robbery and convince Mickey to stay straight.

Rip then announces that he was recruited as an international peace keeper. The boys join him on his new mission.
