Synopsis:
Sylvester's father sends him to a psychologist, who recommends that Sylvester be given a brother or sister to play with. The Pembertons visit the orphanage and adopt a red-headed girl named Merry. The girl follows Sylvester which prevents him from operating as the Star-Spangled Kid.

Meanwhile, crooks see Merry's picture in the newspaper and realize that she is the daughter of ex-con Fly-Foot Creamer. They blackmail Creamer into working with them by threatening to expose Merry's true parentage.

Creamer sets up the crooks and is killed. The Star-Spangled Kid learns Merry's secret before Creamer dies, but Merry also learns his double identity. Sylvester doesn't tell Merry about her real father and makes her promise not to reveal that he is the Star-Spangled Kid.
