Synopsis:
In a Coast City jail cell, Hector Hammond awakens from stasis. During his last battle with Green Lantern, Hammond forced himself into a stasis that would cease after six months. Hammond is able to break free from jail, but instead he decides to remain there. He intends to carry out his revenge against Green Lantern by freeing and manipulating another GL foe, Sonar.
Nearby, at a chairty event, Green Lantern is alerted to Sonar’s prison break. The two engage in battle. During this battle, Green Lantern’s ring is super-heated by one of Sonar’s attacks. GL commands his ring to take Sonar’s weapon. He also commands it to leave his finger and cool off. Sonar is able to grab the ring, and GL ends up with Sonar’s gun. GL is able to defeat Sonar with his own weapon and regain his power ring. However, the entire battle was a mental creation of Hector Hammond, that took place only in Green Lantern’s mind.
Sonar arrives for real this time, and the same battle ensues. When the moment arrives for GL to capture Sonar, Sonar changes his attack because he is forewarned by Hammond’s influence. Sonar captures Lantern in a power ring box and carries him away. Unable to affect the box with the soinc gun, Green Lantern uses the gun on himself to cause vibrations similar to the Flash. These vibrations allow him to escape the trap.
Green Lantern recovers from the vibrating experience and follows Sonar, who has carried the now empty box toward his homeland, Modora. GL is able to quickly capture Sonar and regain his ring. Sonar is returned to jail, but Hammond’s influence on events remain unknown. Lantern returns to the charity event where Pieface has been disguised as Hal Jordan by the power ring to cover for his absence.
