Comments:
Dr. Fate’s origin is recapped in this story. Additional information concerning his use of the half-helmet to avoid possession by Nabu is revealed. He briefly returns to using the full-helmet in this story.
This story, which takes place in early February, 1942 is continued from All-Star Squadron #22 and continues in All-Star Squadron #24.
Synopsis:
Following their failed battle with Ultra and his cronies, the remaining All-Star’s return the the Perisphere to gather information about Ultra’s activities.
Meanwhile, Hawkman, Atom, and Dr. Fate fly to Washington following a battle with Cyclotron. Dr. Fate expresses concern over the disappearance of the Spectre and returns to his Salem Tower with the Atom.
When the heroes arrive at the tower they discover a costumed crook, Amazing-Man, trying to steal Fate’s original helmet. They defeat him and learn that he is a former olympic champion given super-powers by Ultra. Fate dons his original helmet, believing it will allow him to find the Spectre. They then leave the Tower with Amazing-Man in tow.
