Synopsis:
Travis Morgan and Tara discuss their future. Tara still believes that her mate's wanderlust will take him out of Shamballah. Before the discussion is over, a sudden tornado arises and carries Morgan into the air. He grabs hold of a tree and rides out the storm. The tornado was created by the witch Saaba who wants Morgan dead. When her latest attack fails, she seeks out help to destroy her enemy.
Morgan returns to the palace and joins Krystovar in exploration of the Atlantean computer complex located below the city. Morgan takes the cartridge he obtained from the weapons cache and has the computer analyze it. The cartridge contains the service record of an Air Force officer from 300 years in the future. Yet, the cartridge is thousands of years old.
The investigation is interrupted by the arrival of a messenger. Kaambuka has fallen to an invasion force from New Atlantis which has joined forces with Saaba. The invasion force now stands at the gate of Shamballah. Tara and the Warlord try to mount a defense, but the advanced weapons of the attackers quickly make the defense of the city impossible.
The Warlord organizes a retreat. When Tara objects, Morgan knocks her out. He then carries her underground, through the computer room, and out of the city. He is joined by as many men as can follow him including Krystovar and Graemore. Outside, they watch the city burn. The Warlord promises Tara that they will come back and reclaim the city.
