Synopsis:
In attempt to get to know the man who was his Kryptonian father, Superman studies diaries and mind tapes that he has found which reveal stories of Jor-El's life. He learns that Jor-El and his twin brother Nim-El started their education at age three. Jor-El was a brilliant student with a thirst for knowledge.

After a successful scholastic career, Jor-El was given his first assignment at the Kryptonian space center under the leadership of Ken-Dal and General Dru-Zod. At the space center he met a young astronaut trainee Lara Lor-Van and was immediately smitten.

Jor-El discovered the secret of anti-gravity, and, using this knowledge, constructed a space craft made of gold. Lara stowed away inside the ship on its first test flight which crashed on one of Krypton's moons. Jor-El came to her rescue.

Next Jor-El came up with a plan to rehabilitate Krypton's growing criminal population. He suggested placing them in suspended animation in orbit around the planet. His first test subject was killed by Tron-Et, a criminal leader who had taken a spot on the Science Council. Tron-Et's plan to sabotage the program and discredit Jor-El failed.

Meanwhile, Jor-El and Lara went to a Kryptonian computer to obtain approval for marriage. Their request was denied because the machine gained sentience and had fallen in love with Lara. When confronted by Jor-El, the computer destroyed itself. This resulted in a change in the law which allowed Jor-El and Lara to marry. Their friends including their future son Superman attended their wedding.
