Synopsis:
Clark Kent goes to Metropolis to research a paper on what career he would like to have as an adult. Clark tries jobs as a waiter, an ice cream salesman, and a cabin boy. Each time, he finds that the job interferes with his duties as Superboy.

Superboy is called into action several times while Clark is working. Each time, he meets Perry White, a reporter for the Daily Planet. He decides that becoming a reporter would allow him to protect his secret identity and operate freely.

Clark's paper on becoming a future reporter wins him an award. The award is presented by the newly named editor of the Daily Planet, Perry White. Clark promises to see Perry again when he is finished with school and needs a job.
