Part 3: "The Beast of the Doom Patrol"

The origins of Elasti-Girl, Robotman, and Negative Man are retold in brief in this story.

Synopsis:
Frustrated by his fate as a human brain in a mechanical body, Robotman secretly contacts a famous biologist about a possible brain transplant into an artificially created human body. He is unaware, though, that the biologist, Dr. Wilder, is actually Madame Rouge in disguise. Robotman awakens after the operation to find himself inhabiting the Brain's preservation tank, while the Brain resides in his robot form and infiltrates the Doom Patrol. When the Brotherhood of Evil again attacks using Rog, the giant robot, the false Robotman betrays his teammates into their hands. The Chief, meanwhile, locates the real Robotman and transfers his brain into the body of a monstrous artificial creature in the Brain's laboratory, after which they rush to rescue their teammates. Elasti-Girl and Negative Man escape and join the battle as the two groups clash, with the Robotman-creature dismantling the Brain-Robotman. The fight ends in a stalemate as the Brotherhood trio escapes. The Chief then restores Robotman's brain to a new mechanical body.
