Synopsis:
The Phantom Stranger creates psychic defenses in the mind of Bruce Gordon to protect him from Eclipso. The Stranger then begins to question his own faith for humanity. This brings a confrontation with the Lords of Order who strip the Stranger of his powers as punishment for questioning them. The Stranger vows to continue to fight for humanity's survival until the end.
To do so, the Stranger recruits Jenet Klyburn from STAR Labs. She has determined that the seismic events that have occurred around the world are not natural in origin. Bruce, Jenet, and the Stranger then travel to Mount Saint Helens which is about to erupt. Jenet pinpoints a seismic frequency responsible for the quakes which leads the Stranger to demons underground in the employ of Eclipso. Working together, the Stranger and Klyburn dispatch the demons and stop the quakes.
Eclipso realizes that the Stranger has stopped this scheme, but he has two other plans in the works to plunge Earth in perpetual darkness.
