Synopsis:
Superman stops a missile from striking the Daily Planet. Lois Lane is upset when Clark Kent gets the story. Superman offers to give Lois a more personal story instead, the story of how he came to Earth from Krypton.
Generations after a great war destroyed much of the planet, the people of Krypton developed protective suits to prolong their lives. Death was extremely rare, as was human contact. Superman's father Jor-El was a rare individual who exhibited emotion including love for his mate Lara.
When a quake struck Krypton, Jor-El decided to investigate. He soon discovered that many Kryptonians including himself had grown weaker. His robots also reported that twenty million Kryptonians were dead. Jor-El sought answers in the history files he studied. After a long search he discovered that a bomb set off at the end of the great war had caused a chain reaction. Krypton's core had become radioactive and was poisoning the people. The problem would also soon cause the planet to explode.
Jor-El visited the gestation chambers where his unborn son was developing. This was a rare occurrence as was removing Kal-El from the chambers. He brought Lara to his home and explained Krypton's fate. Then as the planet was entering the final stages of its death, Jor-El sent his son to Earth.
