Comments:
This story continues in part in the first story of Arak/Son of Thunder #21.
Synopsis:
Arak and his companions cross a vast desert led by the priest Johannes. They face many dangers including sandstorm, sinkholes, a giant ant-lion, and undead warriors. Despite the obvious peril the travelers continue to make their way toward the capital of White Cathay, the city of Albracca.
Using her powers of magic, the sorceress Angelica observes the travelers as they make their approach. She then weaves a tale for her captive Malagigi which explains the history of White Cathay and how she came to be in power. The city is currently besieged by tartars, and Angelica seeks the answer to a riddle which will bring a powerful demon to her side. Malagigi, who knows the answer to the riddle, refuses to answer even if it could potentially bring harm to his approaching friends.
