Synopsis:
While charging his power ring, Green Lantern is summoned by the Guardians of the Universe to investigate his fellow Green Lantern, Xax. Xax has been reluctant to use his power ring to stop a group of criminals, and the Guardians want to know why.
Green Lantern heads into space, and after handling a short mission elsewhere, he heads to Xax’s world Xaos. When he arrives he finds a giant fireball. Elsewhere Xax is confronting the band of wasp criminals, lead by Zorx. Xax has a plan to capture them, but suddenly the fireball is neutralized by Hal Jordan. Xax tries to stop the interference but to no avail. He meets up with Hal and explains what has happened.
Inhabitants on Xax’s world use a yellow sugar to purify their water supply. Zorx has been stealing the sugar to make himself the world’s ruler. When Xax tried to stop them, the theives became protected by a yellow plant. The theives covered themselves in yellow and continued their plans. Xax again tried to stop them, but now atomic bombs went off when he used his power device. With these advantages, the thieves were able to elude capture. Xax set the fireball up to stop the criminals, but Hal’s interference thwarted his plan.
Hal devises another plan and send Xax into space. When the wasp gang strikes again, Hal is there. Suddenly the wasps yellow coating changes color. Another explosion occurs when Xax returns using his power device. Hal stops the explosion, and Xax apprehends the criminals. When Xax left, he used his power device to heat his sun which caused the yellow plant which protected the gang, green. Hal restores the sun to normal and returns home.
