Synopsis:
Batman begins following sporting events after two bizarre accidents. At a car race, driver Jack Hogan takes a careless risk and nearly dies in a crash. Batman pulls Hogan out of the car in time to save him. A blood test reveals traces of a drug similar to Scarecrow's fear toxin. This variant neutralizes fear, but also causes a complete disregard for personal safety.
Robin stakes out the hospital where Hogan is being treated. Scarecrow attempts to blackmail Hogan with a cure. Robin tries to stop the villain alone and is captured. Scarecrow then lures Hogan to his death.
When Batman sets a trap for the Scarecrow by disguising himself as daredevil Alvin Kenner, the Scarecrow injects him with the anti-fear drug. He then leads Batman into a trap to rescue Robin. Batman must fight the effects of the drug to avoid putting himself in danger. The crimefighter succeeds in rescuing his partner and apprehends the Scarecrow.
