Comments:
This story retells the origin of Batman with new details. In the post-Crisis universe, Bruce Wayne was taken in my Leslie Thompkins after his parents were killed. Leslie now works as a doctor at a Wayne Foundation clinic and has knowledge of Batman's secret identity.
This story is continued from Detective Comics #573.
Synopsis:
When Robin is accidentally shot by the Mad Hatter, Batman rushes him to Leslie Thompkins. While Leslie operates on Jason, Batman reflects on his childhood after his parents were murdered. Leslie took him in and raised him. From the time of the murder, Bruce was driven to teach himself how to fight crime. Leslie worries about bringing Jason into the fight, but Batman feels that he is given the boy an outlet which he never had in hopes that Jason won't live his life as Bruce has. Leslie's operation is a success, and Jason recovers from his injuries.
