Synopsis:
A rampaging super-villain calling himself Maddax the Destroyer begins creating destruction on the streets in Kansas City. The Doom Patrol are called in to fight him. Maddax pretends to be their friend in front of television cameras, leading the public to blame the heroes for the destruction. Maddax has actually been hired by Lex Luthor to discredit the Doom Patrol and turn the public completely against them. Luthor's scheme fails when Maddax's power gives out, and the team realizes that they are being set up. The group is cleared of blame, but Luthor gets away without the public learning of his involvement.
