Synopsis:
Slam Bradley is hired by the manager of a sporting goods store after he has been attacked by crooks in his store several nights in a row. The manager, Homer Fee, tells Slam that the crooks take nothing, but they leave behind expensive golf balls called Wizards. Fee has tested the balls and finds them to be genuine. He in turn sells them to Ritter, a champion golfer.

Slam discovers that the crooks work for Wexen, a gambler who just placed a larger wager on Ritter's opponent. The night before the match, Slam waits in the store for the crooks. He then beats them. They intended to replace the genuine balls with rigged phonies that would cause Ritter to lose the match.
