This story continues in Checkmate #22.
Synopsis:
Checkmate dispatches agents to California where farmers are being threatened for their water rights. The mercenary known as Bishop has been terrorizing the farmers, but Knight Conrad Mackay confronts him. Bishop is able to withstand all attacks from the knight and eventually defeats him.
Meanwhile, Harry Stein continues the battle with his ex-wife for custody of his children.
