Comments:
This story takes place before Hal Jordan left Coast City in Green Lantern #49.
Synopsis:
Alan Scott travels to Earth-1 to visit Hal Jordan. Alan wants to send Doiby his old cab Goitrude as an anniversary present. Hal Jordan has kept the cab in his garage while Doiby has been offworld. However, when Hal goes to retrieve the cab, it is missing.
Goitrude seems to have taken on a life of its own. The cab begins aiding criminals and speaking. Eventually the Green Lanterns summon Doiby back to Earth, in hopes that he may be able to control the car. Instead, the car uses the power contained in both the Green Lanterns' rings. With this energy the true source of Goitrude's sudden behavior is revealed, Sinestro.
Sinestro paralyzes the Green Lanterns and Doiby. He then uses the device Doiby used to travel between Earths to steal the Master Power Battery on Oa. He transports the battery to Earth-2 where he plans to create an army of evil ring-wielders.
Hal and Alan manage to break out of the paralysis. They transport themselves to Earth-2 and defeat Sinestro's army. The Power Battery is then returned to Oa in the Earth-1 universe. Before Doiby returns to his wife, Alan creates a miniature replica of Goitrude for Doiby to take with him.
