Comments:
A flashback reveals that Rex has already met the bear from this story. However, based on the details given this bear does not appear to be Baku, the bear he met in the first story of Adventures of Rex the Wonder Dog #39.
Synopsis:
While their train is delayed, Rex and Danny meet the Dexter family. Young cub scout Freddie Dexter is missing, so Rex searches the nearby wilderness. Rex finds the boy with a bear cub near a cave. An adult bear is preparing to attack the boy, so Rex comes to the rescue.
Rex begins battling the bear until the recognize each other. Rex had saved this bear years earlier when it was just a cub. The two animals renew their friendship, but Freddie returns to his father with the bear cub.
The adult bear is angry, but Rex offers to get the cub back. Rex locates the boy and his family. He saves them from two escaped convicts, then returns the bear cub to his father.
