Danny and his fellow passenger Mary Smith report the problem to Ed Carroll, the ranch manager. Danny then sees Mary heading for trouble. He sends Rex to help as Mary uncovers a rustling operation run by Carroll. Rex rescues Mary and helps to apprehend the crook.

After Carroll and his men are taken into custody by the sheriff, Danny learns that Mary was sent by her father the ranch owner to investigate suspicious activity. In appreciation for Rex's aid, Mary asks Danny and Rex to return to the ranch the following year.
