Synopsis:
Superboy witnesses the liquified remains of an old meteorite threaten a newly formed town. He stops the flow of the muddy blue substance and leaves it nearby for scientific study. The town then decides to honor Superboy by naming their town after him. The Boy of Steel is invited back for a celebration.
When Superboy returns he noticed a snake that has been partially turned into a plant by the muddy clay of the meteorite. Superboy examines the substance and learns that it contains alien plant spores. Superboy must gather the spores without causing a panic. Some of the clay was used for statues, so Superboy must secretly vandalize them.
When the town celebration occurs, the townspeople begin growing plant-like roots. Superboy explains the predicament and admits to the vandalism. The effect of the spores wears off eventually, because Superboy gathered them before they could cause greater harm. Lana Lang was exposed to a higher dose however. Superboy is forced to take her into space, where the lack of air causes the plant-like growths to die.
