Synopsis:
While cleaning Superboy’s trophy room, Jonathan Kent touches a strange space jewel and gains super powers. With his new powers he orders Clark to give up his Superboy identity and replaces him as Super-Man. When Clark tries to go into action to make rescues, Jonathan scolds his son and paints the house with lead paint, so that Clark cannot see emergencies.

While working in the family store, Clark hears a plea for Superboy’s help on the radio. Jonathan quickly finishes his work, and dashes off to the rescue instead of Clark. When Clark sees an invoice signed by his father, he steps outside and observes with his telescopic vision.

Jonathan orders a Superboy robot to gather Kryptonite to kill Superboy. Clark secretly disables the robot and confronts his father. Jonathan is revealed as a fake. He is really Jax-Ur, an escaped Phantom Zone criminal, convicted for destroying an inhabited moon of Krypton. Superboy returns him to the Phantom Zone and frees the real Jonathan Kent who has been held prisoner. Jax-Ur gave himself away when he signed the store invoice with his real name.
