Synopsis:
Superboy is puzzled when reporter Alex Jones has details of his cases in print just after they happen. To learn the reporter's secret, Clark Kent takes a job at the Smallville Herald as a newsboy. Before he can deduce Jones's methods, Superboy helps newsboy Paul Lindell gather enough new subscriptions to earn a bonus. Paul then uses the money to save his family's home.

Superboy is surprised that Jones doesn't have details of his work with Paul. He then discovers that Jones has set up microphones near burglar alarms which when triggered give him information on crimes in real time. This method has allowed Jones to get his reports first. Jones then uses his success to get a job at a bigger newspaper.
