Synopsis:
Arak and Satyricus mourn the loss of their companion Khiron who has been killed by the arrow of a Byzantine soldier. As they are departing, Khiron rises. The centaur explains that though he is dying, he must reach the river Styx and cross into Hades. Arak removes the arrow from Khiron, then allows the mortally wounded centaur leave to depart before embarking on his quest to find Valda.

A surviving soldier from the battle reaches the camp of Brutius where Valda is being held. He describes the battle to his commander. Brutius then leads a party to find the wounded centaur and drag him back to Byzantium. On the road, the soldier pass Arak and Satyricus who double-back to help their friend.

Khiron reaches the gateway to Hades and crosses the river. The soldiers follow after Brutius kills one of his own men to distract the guardian Cerberus. Arak and Satyricus follow. The faun uses his pipes to put Cerberus to sleep, then using a coin from the dead soldier cross Styx in the boat of Charon.

Arak arrives on an island where demi-gods such as Khiron meet their end. He finds the centaur and the soldiers in combat. Arak and Saytricus come to their friend's aid. Arak kills Brutius by drowning him in the river. Khiron is then allowed final peace, while his friends depart once again toward Byzantium.
