This story is continued from Justice League #5 and continues in Justice League International #7.

Synopsis:
The Justice League arrive in Stone Ridge, Vermont which has been transformed by the magic of the Gray Man. Captain Marvel has been captured by the villain and has his mind taken over. The Gray Man then sends Marvel to battle the League. While J'onn fights his teammate, the League are led to the Gray Man by the Creeper.

The Gray Man's control of Captain Marvel eventually deteriorates. Doctor Fate is able to break free and begins fighting the Gray Man mystically. Several of the villains minions go after the other League members and eventually take them all down. Doctor Fate who has been holding back, unleashes his full power. The League and the Gray Man are then teleported away.

In another part of town the Martian Manhunter has finished his battle with Marvel. Captain Marvel was injured in the fight. Since his teammates have vanished, J'onn takes the injured Marvel back to headquarters for help.
