Slam and Shorty witness several racketeers trying to catch a dog. Slam picks a fight with them, then Shorty takes the dog back to the office. A short time later, a mob boss named Duke Dart drops in to hire Slam to find the dog. When Duke leaves, his rival Nick Raus also pays Slam a visit, demanding the dog. Slam and Shorty get Nick's gang to chase them back to Duke's club. While the rival gangsters fight each other, Slam uses the dog to lead him to some stolen loot. Nick wanted the dog, because he wanted it to lead him to Duke's buried treasure. After stopping the crooks, Slam turned them and the recovered loot over to the police.
