Synopsis:
The Justice League invites Metamorpho, the Element Man, to become its latest member, but before he can even arrive at their meeting place he is attacked by an unseen enemy. When Superman, Batman, Flash, Green Lantern, and Atom come to his rescue, he explains that he doesn't want to join them, since all he really wants is to be cured of his freakish Element Man form and returned to normal.
When Green Lantern attempts unsuccessfully to turn him back to Rex Mason, his earlier opponent - an intangible being calling itself the Unimaginable - appears and sues for JLA membership himself. The super-heroes reject the unorthodox applicant, who responds by sending deadly alien creatures to defeat them. Disguising himself as one of these creatures, Metamorpho goes with them when they are recalled by the Unimaginable after being beaten. The JLA members are then able to locate their foe, and infiltrate his body in the form of negative radiation, defeating him from within.
One their return to Earth, Metamorpho is appointed to a special "stand-by" status in the JLA.
