Synopsis:
When Green Lantern leaves to confront a pirate robber, he mysteriously speaks his oath backwards. He leaves the mystery unsolved and battles the pirate who possesses magic. Green Lantern's ring behaves oddly, even managing to affect yellow-colored objects.
Green Lantern follows his opponent to a mystic location that serves as the gateway to the world of Ys. There he is met by Zatanna who explains that she was responsible for the ring's odd behavior. The Warlock of Ys seeks to use GL's ring to enter Earth's dimension. Zatanna warns GL and together they enter Ys.
Green Lantern's ring and Zatanna's magic don't function normally in the alternate world. The Warlock tries to procure GL's ring, but the heroes learn their new limitations in time to thwart their foe. The Warlock then sends the inhabitants of Ys, former residents of Earth, to attack. GL overcomes them then confronts the Warlock.
The heroes are at a standoff with their opponent. Zatanna wishes to know what happened to her father, so GL offers the Warlock his ring in exchange for the information. Zatara was banished to Ys by the Druid, but he escaped with the Warlock's crystal ball. Once his tale is told, the Warlock attempts to use the ring. Zatanna has given it an order first, which paralyzes the villain. GL and Zatanna then return to Earth. Zatanna vows to continue her quest to find Zatara.
