Synopsis:
While returning from a Justice League meeting, Hal is attacked by an Abin Sur imposter. After he defeats the magical created being, he asks the power ring about the incident.
The power ring explains that the being was created by Myrwhydden, a sinister sorcerer from within the ring itself. Many years ago, Abin Sur had battled Myrwhydden and imprisoned him inside his ring and removed the wizards powers. Slowly after Abin Sur died, Myrwhydden’s magic began returning although he was unaware of Sur’s death.
Green Lantern shrinks himself down and confronts Myrwhydden inside his ring. However since he could not wear his ring, GL is apparently powerless. He does however exhibit magic abilities now that he is inside the ring. He battles Myrwhydden evenly until Myrwhydden casts a spell which removes magic from the land. Now neither GL nor Myrwhydden himself can use magic. Lantern is stuck in a bad position but Lantern uses the power of the ring to stop his foe. GL had only pretended to use magic, his real power came from the ring, which he can control even when not wearing it. He uses the power ring to remove Myrwhydden speech. Since all the spells must be spoken, Myrwhydden’s cannot perform his magic when it returns.
