Comments:
This issue is the last Golden Age JSA story to feature Starman and Spectre.

Synopsis:
Rex Morgan, publisher of the Courier newspaper, approaches the JSA for help in defeating the Psycho-Pirate. The Psycho-Pirate, a villain who uses psychology and emotion as the basis for his crimes, challenges the JSA, giving them six crimes to stop.

The JSA splits up to handle each of the crimes. Hawkman handles a crime based on a father's love for his daughter; Starman stops two businessmen from killing each other in hatred; Dr. Mid-Nite helps a city stricken by fear; Johnny Thunder overcomes his own conceit to stop a robbery; Spectre faces crooks who use the greed of two collectors to steal from them; and the Atom is challenged by despair.

During the Atom's challenge, he is shot in the arm, but he learns the identity of the Psycho-Pirate. The JSA returns to the newspaper to report on their missions. The Atom arrives late, but points out the villain, Charley Halstead, the linotyper. The JSA capture Halstead, who vows vengeance against the crime-fighters.
