Comments:
This story is continued from Action Comics Weekly #613.
This story reveals that Abin Sur's ring altered Hal's mind to remove his natural fears.
Synopsis:
Hal uses his power ring to learn the reason why he has no fear. The ring shows him the scene in which Abin Sur was dying. Sur ordered his ring to bring him a man without fear. The ring could not locate one on Earth, so it found one with minimal fear, Hal Jordan. While bringing Hal to Sur, the ring altered Hal's mind to remove his natural fears.
Shocked to discover that the ring has altered his brain, Hal orders his ring to restore his mind to its original condition. The ring he now has is not Abin Sur's ring, but is the one which belonged to Tomar-Re. It does not have information on the exact changes performed to Hal's mind. It does the best it can to restore Hal's fears. In doing so, Hal is overwhelmed by the fear. Fortunately, his reaction helps a potentially suicidal jumper deal with his own fears.
