Comments:
This story continues in Wanderers #2.
The original Wanderers are all found dead in this story. The new versions are clones of the originals.
Synopsis:
Clonus, a renegade Controller, tracks down the ship belonging to the Wanderers. Inside the ship he finds the entire team murdered and crystals which provide clues to the identity of the killers. He gathers biological samples from each member of the team and returns to a cloaked space station where he has a hidden laboratory.
Clonus uses the biological material to clone the Wanderers. The clone of their leader Celebrand fails, but the other six are successfully created and age to adulthood in three years. During that time, Clonus creates his own clone which he educates and leaves on the space station while he returns to space for an unspecified mission.
When the Wanderers awaken they find their new bodies changed and their powers altered. Some of the members take new names for themselves. Dartalg becomes Dartalon. Elvo takes the name Elvar. Immorto becomes Re-Animage and Ornitho uses the new name Aviax. Shortly after Clonus gives them new costumes, the original Clonus returns to the station and dies. His arrival exposes the station to the other Controllers who demand that those inside surrender.
