This is the final Golden Age appearance of both the Seven Soldiers of Victory and Crimson Avenger. The Seven Soldiers next appearance is in Justice League of America #100. An unpublished Golden Age story originally intended for Leading Comics #15 was serialized beginning in Adventure Comics #438. It takes place chronologically between this story and the reintroduction of the Seven Soldiers in Justice League of America #100.
This is the final issue of Leading Comics to feature super-heroes. Beginning with Leading Comics #15, the contents are devoted to funny animal characters.
Synopsis:
Dr. Wimsett has developed a formula that can materialize fictional characters into real people. They characters escape, and several of them beginning causing trouble.
The Seven Soldiers of Victory are alerted to the danger. They split up to track down the missing characters while Wimsett develops a way to return the characters to the books. Star-Spangled Kid and Stripesy take on Long John Silver and his band of pirates; Green Arrow and Speedy track down Falstaff; Crimson Avenger and Wing battle Uriah Heep and the Old Man of the Sea; Shining Knight challenges the giant from Jack and the Beanstalk; and Vigilante rounds up the Lilliputians.
Once the characters have been returned to Wimsett's lab, they attempt another break-out. Humpty Dumpty falls on Wimsett's lab equipment during the scuffle. The resulting mixture of chemicals creates the formula which returns the characters to the books from where they sprang. Wimsett vows not to release them again.
