The flashback events of this story relate Superboy’s attempts to master flying. They occur chronologically just prior to his first public adventure in the second story of Superman #144.

Synopsis:
Superboy recalls his attempts to master his flying power. Just prior to his first public appearance, Superboy practiced his flying power. He was spotted by a pilot, who reported the flying boy to his boss. Superboy continued to practice with Pa Kent, each time keeping his existance a secret.

The pilot who saw him was determined to prove what he saw. However, Superboy thwarted his attempts because he wanted to catch some smugglers. Once the smugglers were captured Superboy revealed his existance to the pilot and his boss, saving the man’s reputation.
