This story which takes place on December 9, 1941 continues in All-Star Squadron #6.
Synopsis:
Following the bombing of Pearl Harbor, the JSA holds a meeting and agrees to disband for the duration so that its members can join the military.
After protecting the Statue of Liberty from Nazi saboteurs, Johnny Quick and Robotman meet several members of the All-Star Squadron at the apartment of Danette Reilly. While the Squadron members socialize, Danette bursts into flame in her bedroom, but finds that she is able to control the fire. Her experience on Degaton’s volcanic island has gifted her with super-powers. She joins the Squadron as Firebrand, a name previously used by her brother Rod, whom she has just learned was a crimefighter himself.
The next day, the Squadron members, Liberty Belle, Robotman, Johnny Quick, Shining Knight, and Firebrand, join Hawkman, Atom, and Dr. Mid-Nite on an expedition to Mexico to find Hawkman’s missing fiancee, Shiera Sanders. Shiera has been captured by Nazis working with a Mayan known as the Feathered Serpent, and they plan to execute her.
