Comments:
The Steel excerpts in this issue are adapted from a story originally intended for publication in the unreleased sixth issue of Steel, the Indestructible Man.
This issue contains a fact file page which features Shining Knight, Robotman, and Johnny Quick.
This story, which takes place on December 30, 1941, continues in All-Star Squadron #9.
Synopsis:
Liberty Belle and Shining Knight defend Winston Churchill while on a speaking tour in Canada. The Black Assassin attacks, but before he can kill Churchill, Steel arrives to defeat the killer. Steel is wounded in the battle, but before lapsing into unconsciousness he hands a diary to Churchill.
Churchill reads the diary, learning that Steel is Hank Heywood, a marine whose body was restored by a bio-retardant formula. The Prime Minister had met Steel in London in 1940 where the hero had saved him from another assassination attempt.
While transporting Steel and Churchill back to Washington, a Japanese assassin, Kung attacks, defeating the All-Star’s, but Steel revives from his coma in time to stop Kung.
