This story is presented as Untold Tales of Superboy #1. The majority of the story takes place at the beginning of Superboy’s career, immediately following his debut in flashback in the second story of Superman #144.
Synopsis:
Superboy recalls how when he first began his career as Superboy his glasses melted every time he used his X-ray vision. Lana Lang saw his glasses melt and began to believe Clark was Superboy. Clark was forced to be careful when using his X-ray vision so that his glasses were off, or an alternate method of performing the task could be used.
When an alien craft fell to Earth, Superboy remembered his own rocket from Krypton. Using the glass from the rocket, Superboy was able to fashion indestructible glasses that survived his X-ray vision.
