The Atlantean City of the Golden Gate sinks in this story.
Synopsis:
Chaon witnesses several forces at work that threaten Atlantis. He acts to combine those forces for an all out assault of the City of the Golden Gate. First S'Net makes a pact with the sub-men to attack. While the Atlanteans are fighting the sub-men, a ship from outer space arrives bringing conquerors from another world. They bring an offer to surrender to the Atlantean king M'Zalle. When they are met by refusal they kill him.
T'Galla is then able to call a truce with the sub-men. The Atlanteans and sub-men combine forces to repel the invaders. Meanwhile Arion has been engaged in his own battle with Chaon. One which results in Chaon unleashing a blast which causes a great earthquake and brings about the sinking of the city.
Etok, one of the invasion leaders, having learned that his race originated from Atlantis half a million years earlier, turns against his own people and directs the invading ship into the sun. Arion banishes Chaon, but too late to save the city. Arion, Chian, Wyynde, and many Atlanteans escape in ships, but the great city that stood for a million years is no more.
