Synopsis:
When the last of the Chosen arrive at the Green Lantern Citadel, the Guardian and Zamaron bring them inside to discuss the next steps in evolution. Batman has pieced together clues which lead him to Belle Reve prison in Louisiana where the Suicide Squad operates. John Economos tells him that Mark Shaw was released two weeks earlier, but Batman can tell that the warden is lying. He sets out into the swamp to find Shaw, Commissioner Gordon, and the Manhunters. Shaw is leading a Suicide Squad team into the same swamp to fight the Manhunters also.
Captain Atom returns to the Air Force base. General Eiling orders him to go to Louisiana to battle Firestorm who has joined the Manhunter cause. Eiling hopes that Atom can prove himself and show up the Suicide Squad team.
In New York, a Manhunter agent visits Madame Xanadu and steals a Manhunter mask which has come into the mystic's possession. The Manhunter escapes with the mask. A mystic locator spell tracks him to Louisiana. The Spectre leaves to pursue.
On the Manhunter homeworld, Harbinger briefly escapes captivity before being recaptured. Driq, a Green Lantern, has also discreetly arrived on the planet.
