Synopsis:
Gnort commences an attack on the fleet of space ships in orbit around the Earth. When he knocks out the Cluster's cloaking device, Manga Khan orders the operation to take Earth's resources get underway immediately. With the deadline for Earth's response ignored, the Justice League splits up to confront the threat. J'onn leads Captain Atom and Rocket Red into space to battle the fleet, while Mister Miracle leads a team to Australia where the Cluster has established a ground base.
In the space battle, Captain Atom quickly discovers that he cannot use his powers without rupturing his space suit. He does make himself valuable by suggesting that the group use debris from damaged ships to destroy the other fighters. On Earth, Mister Miracle, Booster Gold and Blue Beetle are joined by probationary members Green Flame and Ice Maiden. They battle the robot guardians of the Australian facility.
While the battles in space and on Earth favor the attackers, L-Ron informs Manga Khan that the defense put on my the heroes has cut into the expected profit margin for their mission. Even if they win their fights, the Cluster will not profit, so Khan orders an immediate retreat. The Earth facility is rocketed into space and leaves with the fleet, but Mister Miracle was unable to exit before the departure.
In the aftermath, J'onn informs Barda that Scott was taken when the Cluster's fleet left orbit. She demands to join the rescue mission. J'onn then secures the use of a ship to go after him. Booster, Beetle, and the probationary members remain on Earth. They wonder what happened to Guy who claimed to have urgent business. Guy has gone to Gotham City in a futile attempt to get Batman to help fight the aliens.
